This week on social: Repentance, being ‘root-bound’ and technology

During the past week, Church leaders have shared messages on social media about repentance, personal revelation, following the prophet and using technology to help gather Israel.

President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, posted on Facebook Oct. 26 that if anyone should lose their way, they will never be lost to the Savior. “With the blessing of repentance, we can turn to Him. He will help us learn, grow, and change as we strive to stay on the covenant path,” President Ballard wrote.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted a video on Instagram about meeting with the leaders of the Church’s Asia Area in person.

While in Asia, Elder Uchtdorf posted on Facebook about meeting with Sister Louise at the Good Shepherd Sisters of Bangkok and presenting a humanitarian donation to her to help her work.

Following up on his address to institute students at the University of Utah in August, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a video on Facebook on Oct. 27 about why it is unreasonable to claim that faith in Jesus Christ is unreasonable.

On Oct. 23, Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles tweeted about the liberty and freedom that only the gospel of Jesus Christ can provide.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted a video on Instagram on Oct. 27 from a recent broadcast to missionary training centers around the globe, where he spoke about following the living prophet.

Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson posted about plants that are “root-bound” in a post on Facebook on Oct. 23. “Jesus Christ is willing to loosen our roots and help us to change so that we can grow to become more like Him,” she said.

In an Instagram post with Strive To Be — an account for youth in the Church — Young Women General President Bonnie H. Cordon shared five principles to help youth use technology to help gather Israel.

Brother Bradley R. Wilcox, the second counselor in the Young Men general presidency, shared a message he received from a former bishop on Facebook on Oct. 26 about the new “For the Strength of Youth” guide.

In a video on Instagram on Oct. 28, Primary General President Susan H. Porter announced new resources for parents and Primary leaders to help children and youth understand the blessings and privileges of making and keeping sacred covenants.

On Oct. 28, Sunday School General President Mark L. Pace shared how ministering brothers and sisters can learn how to have scripture study experiences in their homes.
