The City of San José’s Aviation Department has named Faiyaz Ali, P.E., PMP, as Deputy Director of Planning and Development for Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). Mr. Ali will develop, manage and deliver projects in the Capital Development Program. He will begin his new position on November 28, 2022.
Mr. Ali brings extensive project experience in design, program administration, construction management, engineering surveying and preparation of engineering drawings. He most recently served as Division Manager for the City of San José, Department of Public Works. He began working for the Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport in 2014 and progressively advanced within the engineering team. He served as an Engineer I/II, Associate Engineer and most recently as Acting Senior Engineer.
“My goal is to drive an opportunity for greater innovation and to leverage technology toward improving work efficiency,” said Mr. Ali. “I am motivated to lead by mentorship and example and bring great work ethic to the position and the work group. I look forward to building relationships between colleagues and the different departments of the City.”
Mr. Ali received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of California and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Fiji Institute of Technology. He is also a Professional Engineer (P.E.), is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and served in the United States Air Force.
