UTICA — The Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center and Mohawk Valley Community College’s thINCubator have announced a renewed partnership to benefit entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the region.
The partnership will result in the coordination of SBDC and thINC services including business advisement and business training events, leveraging each organizations’ strengths and leading to increased access to resources for small businesses throughout the region, according to the announcement.
“We are excited to embark on this renewed partnership with MVCC’s thINCubator,” said Zach Steffen, regional director of the Mohawk Valley SBDC. “Entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the Mohawk Valley region will benefit from SBDC and thINCubator services including business training events, programming, research, mentorship, and one-on-one advising.”
“We are appreciative of Mohawk Valley Community College’s support – without which our work would not be possible,” he added.
According to thINCubator director Ryan Miller, “While thINC and SBDC have been close collaborators serving entrepreneurs in the Mohawk Valley for the past several years, I’m incredibly excited to work closely with the entire SBDC staff to rethink and reinvent what an effective partnership looks like.”
“Together, we’re able to offer a full suite of services to students and community members who want to start businesses, grow their side-hustles, or vet their ideas,” Miller said. “From one-on-one mentorship and advisement to tactical workshops, sprints and our co-working program, MVCC’s thINCubator will continue to be a hub for innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in the Mohawk Valley.”
The first event to result from this renewed partnership is a website workshop, which will take place at MVCC’s thINCubator on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The presentation will look at examples of what makes a good website; help businesses objectively audit their websites; and help participants build a plan to revamp, rebuild, or create a website.
Following the workshop, the SBDC and thINCubator will host an in-depth, two-part website sprint that will take participants through the planning and initial stages of building, or rebuilding, their websites. The website sprint sessions will take place on Thursday, Feb. 16, and Thursday, March 2, from noon to 2 p.m.
Preregistration is required for all SBDC and thINCubator events.
