Margao: Veteran Congressman and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Saturday said that nothing in this country can prevent the onward march of a community which has been able to successfully integrate technology with spirituality.
Kamat was addressing the first punyatithi of Shree Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swami at Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, Partagal, Canacona, and was referring to the current muttadhipati Shree Vidyadheesh Teerth Swami who has a technological background and yet is steeped in spirituality.
“I have always believed that our country will one day become a super power. But for this to happen, every samaj of this country should transform itself into a super power. And that transformation should begin with the Saraswat samaj,” Kamat said.
Describing the Saraswat samaj as a community of “knowledgeable, intelligent and wise” people, Kamat said it was the responsibility of the samaj to take all other communities along and make them “vibrant.”
In his welcome address, the mutt’s central committee president and Dempo group chairman, Shrinivas Dempo, paid rich tributes to the memory of Shree Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swami. He described him as a visionary seer who by blending science with spirituality guided the community for close to 50 years and recalled his contribution to the development of various fields like education, science, medicine, etc and helped in the uplift of all communities.
