The Project Management Consultant will provide tools, guidance, and education to support active project work within Sault Area Hospital. This may include coordinating the efforts of IT and business/operational users, and third-party contractors or consultants in order to assist Business Owners to develop project documents.
DUTIES:
1. Overall project management of the assigned projects.
2. Provide updates and recommendations to the project team including the identification of risk and providing mitigation strategies.
3. Provide guidance to Project Owners and team to apply best practice project management practices.
4. Provide feedback and guidance to ensure best practice methods are applied to the project. Includes assisting with the development of detailed business cases and project plans identifying the project success accountabilities, scope, budget, resources requirements, timelines and risks.
5. Utilize SAH Project Management principles and processes.
6. Supporting Project Owners, the Project Management Consultant:
a. Ensures precise unambiguous definitions of project scope, goals, deliverables and success criteria.
b. Develops and maintains project plans with defined tasks and resource requirements.
c. Works within project budget, resource allocation, costs and timelines.
d. Works with the various team leads (e.g. to confirm customization requirements, oversee development, coordinate testing, manage deployment).
e. Conducts and coordinates process and workflow analysis with staff as required.
f. Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders.
g. Liaises with project stakeholders on an on-going basis, including reporting on project progress.
h. Based on input from stakeholders, drafts budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary
i. Where required and partnered with the project stakeholders, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the organization.
j. Coordinates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
k. Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts with the project team.
l. Proactively manages changes in project scope utilizing a Change Management process, identifies potential crises and devises contingency plans for assigned projects.
m. Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path.
n. Develops reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
o. Conducts project lessons learned sessions and creates a recommendation aimed at continuous improvement.
7. Act as a role model and champion for continuous improvement by coaching and assisting project team members and employees to communicate change effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• University or college Degree in a related discipline
EXPERIENCE:
• 3+ Years project management experience
SKILLS, ABILITY & KNOWLEDGE:
• Experience presenting updates and recommendations to the Director team
• Demonstrated experience leading the development of project management principles and processes
• Business consulting skills
• Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
• Ability to read communication styles of team members and vendors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines
• Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including management, departmental employees and vendors
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and change management skills
• Lean Six Sigma experience and knowledge is an asset
• Excellent knowledge of various software programs including: Microsoft Word, MS Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
