We have a fabulous new role for an experienced Project Editor, to work for a prestigious publisher of high-quality illustrated non-fiction books, for a 12–18-month fixed term contact, with the possibility to extend.
The Project Editor will advise authors and other third-party clients on how to best achieve their publishing goals, providing a bespoke approach to content, structure and style as necessary, and will be the main contact with the client throughout the production process, whilst working closely with internal colleagues throughout this process and support and manage the project team. You will also provide writers and creatives with a clear and detailed brief, giving structured editorial feedback, whilst using your amazing editing skills to edit copy, liaise with writers and sub-edit all editorial material. Working with the client and project team, you will create marketing materials, including book synopsis, AI’s and publicity content.
The successful person will be a highly experienced Project Editor with sufficient, proven experience of editing illustrated non-fiction titles to a high standard. Excellent project management skills are a must, as is a full understanding of the editorial process from concept to completion. Excellent sub-editing and proofreading skills are essential as is the ability to deliver high-quality content, on brief and to deadline, across a range of subjects, formats and styles. You will have great communication skills, able to manage a busy workload, confident working with text on layout and line fitting copy as necessary. Experience of working with art and/or architecture books is a plus, but the ability to work across a range of other sectors and industries is more important.
