We are seeking a professional like you to service the technical support needs for the Seneca, SC site.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your results orientation, strong implementation and communication skills (written and verbal), and ability to influence others to achieve results in the absence of a direct reporting relationship.  Here, you will have the opportunity to leverage your abilities to work in a diverse team environment – working closely with mechanics, operators, engineers, management, and global teams to solve problems and address systemic issues related to process improvements.

 

In addition, you will be responsible for providing project engineering and project coordination support in assigned plant areas to assure proper design, procurement, and construction of capital and expense projects (usually <$5M) per regulatory and BASF standards.  In many cases, you will also be involved in managing small Projects (<$1M) from development scope to completion.

 

As a Process/Project Engineer, you create chemistry by… 

 

  • Developing project scopes, generating and obtaining cost estimates, and preparing appropriation funding requests. Additionally, you will ensure appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before and after approval, and utilize applicable Value- Based Engineering practices (VBEs) to optimize project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will develop, establish, and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to startup and commissioning, and final documentation and closure.
  • When necessary, as a leader of project teams, you will request and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site, corporate groups or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.
  • Providing support as a discipline Engineer for assigned projects and work with Procurement to perform procurement activities as required, including: preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing with vendors.
  • Ensuring compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.  Additionally, you will adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.
  • Relying on you to request necessary construction and commissioning resources as required to install the scope of work. Additionally, you will monitor and support construction activities to ensure that projects are completed per the design deliverables, quality standards, and plant requirements, and that pre-startup safety reviews are conducted.
  • Maintaining SAP project data entries, monitoring project progress through scheduling and other tools, performing project status reporting, and controlling spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.
  • Following through to ensure that Operations achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-related action items are completed. You will also close projects per guidelines, and ensure proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements.

 

Qualifications – BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

  • Educational background in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Chemical Engineering).
  • Professional engineering experience in a chemical / petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment (preferably in a Project Engineering role).
  • Breadth of knowledge and versatility.
  • Broad knowledge of chemical unit operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Business savvy.
  • Solid attention to detail and organizational skills.
