John JP Patrick Trumble

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. John JP Patrick Trumble, age 66, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, while helping with evacuation efforts and fire spotting for the wildfire.
He was born in Cambridge on Dec. 15, 1955, to John R. and Beulah (Mousel) Trumble. JP attended Cambridge Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1973. On April 16, 1977, he wed Luella Meader and to this union four children were born: Jodi, Staci, Kyle and Mike.
P worked as a mechanic, opening JP Repair in 1985. He was well known in the area for his mechanic skills. In 2009, he began working for CPI in Cambridge as an operations mechanic and safety officer. A year later, CPI was purchased by Nebraska Corn Processing (NCP,) where JP recently worked as maintenance coordinator. He began serving on the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department in 1986, retiring in 2011 after 14 years as the Chief.
He was also an influential councilman on the City Council for 15 years that was instrumental in the BIC (Bartley, Indianola, and Cambridge) Water project and ethanol plant project. JP also played a significant role in starting the Furnas County Home Owned Carnival that continues to be a great success story today. In his spare time, you could find him working on mechanic projects, mowing, small farming, and teaching his beloved dogs special tricks. JP was always willing to help anyone in need and will be greatly missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Beulah and brother-in-law, Dick Lewandowski.
JP is survived by his two daughters, Jodi (Jason) Cobb of Cambridge and Staci Trumble of Holdrege; two sons, Kyle (Anna) Trumble of Cambridge and Mike (Heather) Trumble of Grand Rapids, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Tate, Cole, and Jake Cobb; Grayson Trumble; Cooper and Timbur Trumble; and Mckinley Trumble; significant other of 10 years, Linda Lampe; her family, Katie (Bryan) Seyler of Alma; Killy (Trever) Hilt of St. Francis, Kan., and their five children; three sisters, Joani Lewandowski of Billings, Mont., Peggy (Ken) Hilton of Cambridge and Jeanie (Gary) ten Bensel of Cambridge.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 26, 2022, at 3 p.m. at the Cambridge Public School Gymnasium, with Pastor Jeff Donelan officiating. Inurnment will be in the cemetery in Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in JPs name to the City of Cambridge to be designated to the building of a new fire station in Cambridge. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenourfh.com.
