ORLANDO, Fla. –
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) and Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on January 11, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. to further technology development in three key areas.
Twelve members of leadership from NSWC Crane visited NAWCTSD to sign the agreement and expand collaboration to the greater Navy innovation ecosystem. The visit and MOA signing will officially expand on both Warfare Center’s collaborating on key technology areas where expertise is complimentary to Navy needs: digital transformation, Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) training efforts, and Modeling and Simulation of different systems and platforms.
“These progressive engagements are focused on bringing our teams together to work on tough problems facing our Navy,” says Dr. Angela Lewis, SES, and the Technical Director (TD) at NSWC Crane. “We each have different Technical Capabilities as Warfare Centers, and are now focused on bringing them to bear for the warfighter in specific collaborative mission areas for maximum return and outcome.”
This official MOU process began when the TD at the two Warfare Centers exchanged places early last summer. Watch to learn more about this TD “swap”.
The MOA states that it is an agreement between NAWCTSD and NSWC Crane that enables collaboration in support of Naval training systems Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E). “NAWCTSD is dedicated to accelerating warfighter readiness through training solutions,” CAPT Dan Covelli, the NAWCTSD Commanding Officer, said. “We are going to be faster. The next ten years is about boosting iteration speed. The best way for us to do that is through collaboration with other commands. I’m looking forward to seeing positive outcomes as a result of this MOA.”
