Nasuni to acquire DBM Cloud Systems technology

Nasuni, a Boston-based data services provider and cloud storage company with strong ties to the MetroWest area, announced on Tuesday an acquisition of technology products from DBM Cloud Systems, a California-based software company.

Joseph Slember, who formerly served as DBM’s vice president of engineering, will join Nasuni in the same role, and will lead the company’s data mobility team. The new technology will assist the company in enhancing data migration and multi-cloud support.

“At DBM, we built technology that automates data migration and management between clouds while simplifying the movement of data among them,” said Slember in a press release statement put out by Nasuni. “By combining the technology with Nasuni’s file data services platform, users will gain faster file data migrations and more intelligent tiering, saving significant time and costs.”

The move comes following a $60-million investment Nasuni received in March from Sixth Street Growth in New York. The rise of hybrid and remote work models have strengthened the demand for cloud-services such as those Nasuni provides.

Founded in Natick in 2008 by former New York Times Chief Technology Officer Andres Rodriguez, Nasuni maintains a facility in Marlborough. It doubled its office space there prior to the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
