Unimpressed Lothar Matthaus has dismissed Rangers once again … weeks after branding Gio van Bronckhorst ‘s side “third rate”.
The German football icon is no fan of the Europa League hopefuls and previously made a mess of his prediction when he claimed Borussia Dortmund had a “90 per cent chance” of winning their last 32 clash.
And now he senses glory for RB Leipzig against the Premiership champions in the semi finals.
Matthaus, 61, said: “I think RB Leipzig are the clear favourites against Rangers.
“We should enjoy that two great German clubs are in the semi-finals of the Europa League. For a long time, we were disappointed with the international performance of our teams. And again this year the performance in the Champions League was anything but glorious.
“But Eintracht Frankfurt continues to write such a great success story in this competition and RB also deserves a lot of respect.

“The chance of a final with two teams from our league, with a great atmosphere in the great stadium in Seville on a hot night would be a wonderful ending for these two likeable clubs.”
Rangers supporters will hope Matthaus proves a reverse Nostradamus once again as their team eye a place in the Europa League Final.
He hasn’t changed his tune after he let rip at Rangers and Scottish football, as well as getting a dig in at Celtic.
He previously raged: “Dortmund has achieved a very special treble this season of embarrassing cup disasters in the Champions League, German Cup and now the Europa League.
“The latest was losing to a third rate team, Glasgow Rangers, in the Europa League. Unbelievable.
“In Scotland by the way, Rangers are only second behind Celtic – and they managed to lose in Europe to the Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. They have disgraced themselves in all three competitions.”
