Union Public Services Examination or UPSC conducts the UPSC Civil Services Exam every year. It is one of the hardest exams to pass and very rarely do candidates crack the exam in the first go. Some crack the written exam but do not pass the interview round while some pass both in the first go. There are a few who do not give up the dream of cracking the exam and attempt it not just once but twice thrice as well.
One of them is IPS Officer Manoj Sharma who cracked the UPSC Civil Services in his fourth attempt. He had failed in all subjects except Hindi in 12th. He also got third division in 9th and 10th. Despite his failures in childhood, Manoj never gave up. A biography titled ‘Twelfth Fail’ has been written by Author Anurag Pathak.

His childhood classmate who is now his wife named Shraddha was also a support system and helped him in his journey of cracking the UPSC Exam. He met her when he was in Class 12 and was hesitant to profess his love but later on, he proposed to her and got married.

He came through a lot of obstacles in his life wherein he grew up in poverty and even slept on the road at night amongst beggars. He failed three attempts of the UPSC exam. Then in the fourth attempt, he became an IPS officer by securing 121st rank. Currently, UPSC Topper Manoj Sharma is posted as Additional Commissioner in Mumbai Police.
