Christmas Decoration Ideas For Small Spaces, From The Experts

“Avoid décor pieces that take up floor space, and instead use items you can easily place atop tables or the mantel. To add vibrancy, try using items such as tinsel, garlands, and wreaths, which are hassle-free and take up very little space,” says Jennifer.

Get thrifty

“A great way to save money on your table centrepieces is to repurpose other decorations,” says Pablo Diaz Barriga, VP of International Business at Balsam Brands. “A wreath can make an amazing centrepiece laid in the middle of the table or even placed on a cake stand to add some height to your tablespace. Decorate with anything – old baubles, candles, leftover ribbon from your present wrapping. You could even bring in some fresh foliage, such as ivy or herbs (whatever you have to hand), to help freshen up the look.”

“If you’ve changed the colour scheme for your tree this year and have lots of spare baubles knocking about, another lovely idea for a table centrepiece is to fill a large bowl or basket with these baubles. You can keep the baubles in similar tones for a simple and elegant look, or mix and match colours for a fun and vibrant feel.”

Add Christmas lights

The easiest way to add festive twinkly-ness to a space without taking up any room? Christmas lights!

Add them around your windows, across a mantlepiece or around mirrors for instant interiors merriment. We like small, golden bulbs that give a subtle glow, but you could go full grotto with colourful, flashing sets. You do you.

Use fresh foliage

Sprigs of pine branches will be your best friend when it comes to adding festive joy to your small space – the greenery will look immediately Christmassy, plus the scent… the scent! No Christmas candle necessary.

Use as table decoration, add to bannisters, mantlepieces or hallway tables – or if that’s not an option, you could arrange it in a vase with some small baubles or fairy lights. Cute.
