Sequel to the Ogun State agricultural roadmap on job creation and food security, the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has inaugurated Fanmilk/Danone, an integration dairy farm sited within the Eweje Farm Institute, Odeda, in the Odeda Local Government Area of the state
A statement by the press officer, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Doyinsola Ajisebutu, quoted the governor as speaking during the inauguration of the farm,
Abiodun said the state government had realised the need for sustainable agricultural development.
He noted that the development had brought about the partnership with Fanmilk Plc, and training of youths in the sustainable management of inclusive supply chain of the milk industry and other commodities used daily on the facility.
The governor noted that his administration would sustain support for the facility to fastrack growth and operation of the company, in fulfillment of the state government’s goal on job creation, poverty alleviation and food security.
“We are ready and willing to facilitate more of this investment project and hereby call on all relevant stakeholders to join hands with the government to foster accelerated climate-neutral growth, ideas incubation, innovation and sustainable development in the dairy sector and its value chain”, he assured.
He commended the French Embassy for facilitating the investment and other partnership initiatives, as well as technical assistance in the state, saying the government would continue to provide a conducive environment for potential investors.
In her address, the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Madam Emmanuelle Blatmann, said the project was a success story, which was a result of passion, commitment and partnership on the part of government and Fanmilk/Danone company,
She said the facility would contribute to the development of the economy and locally produced milk.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Fanmilk Plc, Mr. Olayinka Akinkugbe, lauded the state government for being investor-friendly, adding that the model dairy farm initiative was aimed at increasing milk production and creating jobs for the host community.
