CBSE has developed a skill module on ‘Design Thinking and Innovation’ jointly with the innovation cell of the Education Ministry and IIT Bombay, which aims to instill creativity among students through experiential design learning. As part of this skill module, students would be exposed to essential design skills to form a strong foundation, while the focus is on strengthening design skills through hands-on training. In the same series, the School Innovation Council was founded in DAV Public School, Sector-IV, B . S City under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Innovation Cell. Students from std. VI- IX were enlightened on the concept of Innovation. The sole motive of the Government of India behind such an initiative was discussed along with a detailed working mechanism of the Council. Brainstorming session on diverse creative ideas and the inauguration of “Innovation wall” instilled great enthusiasm in the students.
Arun Kumar Jha (Principal) elucidated the potential of youngsters in creating and contributing to the Indian economy. He insisted on keeping the spirits of students’ creativity high to pave the way for the vibrant entrepreneurs. The programme inspired youngsters to observe, ideate and create. It is noteworthy that three trained teachers Soni, Sudha and Rupam disseminated the content on “Design thinking and innovation”. Poonam Singh shared the aims and objectives of the “SIC” and aroused curiosity by citing examples of bright careers of entrepreneurs. Soni highlighted the steps of Innovation with contextual videos..Rupam showcased the effective model on promoting greenery by using waste materials. Sudha presented the case-study of an entrepreneur who is not only contributing to the Indian economy but helping the environment recuperate.
