Three companies are competing for a contract to provide services for engineering designs and oil project management in Kuwait, a local newspaper has said.
The project for the state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), which manages the Gulf country’s upstream industry, involves “providing services for comprehensive engineering designs and large project management for five years,” the Arabic language daily Alanba said, citing KOC sources.
The London-based Worley Europe, Amec Foster Wheeler and Kellogg Brown & Root have submitted bids for the contract, the paper said.
Worley offered the lowest bid of 81.2 million Kuwaiti dinars ($268 million) while Kellogg submitted the second lowest bid of 88.4 million dinars ($291.7 million), it added.
Two other companies – Fluor of the US and France’s Technip – were excluded from bidding, the paper said without mentioning reasons for the decision.
“The bids submitted by the 3 companies will be considered within one month…a recommendation for awarding the contract will be then submitted to the Central Agency for Public Tenders,” it said.
