She used to sculpt features from clay but Cirencester entrepreneur Joanna Walker is now finding success smoothing wrinkles with skincare.
The former sculptor is celebrating after her Cotswold-based company ANI Skincare was shortlisted in five categories in the Free From Skin Care Awards.
They celebrate manufacturers who create cosmetics that exclude allergens, fragrances and other ingredients sometimes associated with skin and health issues, ethical and environmental concerns.
Joanna started making skincare products as Christmas gifts in 2012. When they proved popular she stepped up production and took a stall in Cirencester’s charter market.
Success with pop-up shops and online trade shipping across Europe, the US and Australasia followed and 12 months ago she opened a shop in Stable Yard off Blackjack Street in Cirencester.
She now employs two part-time staff and also sells her products at Burford Garden Company and No Packaging Included in Marlborough.
Her most popular product is a facial cleanser made with rose geranium, neroli, rosemary , lavender and shea butter which sells for £22.
Joanna said of being shortlisted: “ANI stands for As Nature Intended and I’m thrilled we have been acknowledged by the industry for living up to our brand promise.”
The winners are due to be announced tomorrow (July 19).
