Indore: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced that an innovation laboratory will be opened in Indore for artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics and robotics.
“Demand for an innovation lab has been raised. We will come out with the lab in Indore,” Chouhan said at the MP startup conclave.
He said that a slew of steps would be taken to build startup ecosystem including developing a startup village on Industrial Corridor, an incubation centre for 500 people and starting an Fintech City in Indore.
He also spoke about a demand raised by a young entrepreneur and said, “We will cut down stamp duty for startups…, bring it below what is being charged in Delhi,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after PM Narendra Modi launched the state’s startup policy and portal, Chouhan said that the portal has been integrated with Startup India portal of central government and would further be strengthened for better implementation of MP Startup Policy.
“We have decided to set up MP Startup Centre, in which experienced subject experts will educate entrepreneurs and help in nurturing their startups,” he said, adding that provision has been made for venture capital funds to provide financial assistance to startups through venture finance companies of the state.
“Global Investment Summit will be held in Indore on January 7-8, 2023 in Indore, in which, one special session will be of startups” he said, adding that an NRI summit will also be held in Indore on January 9-10 that will also help in attracting investments.
“You give me an idea, I will give you opportunity,” CM said in his speech, in which around 5 lakh students of different colleges across the state were virtually participating. “We have capability, potential, talent and innovative ideas and with the right direction, we can do wonders (in the field of Startups) and can leave Bangalore and Hyderabad behind” he said.
He said that MP’s GDP and per capita income was on continuous rise. “We have developed an ecosystem in MP for the Startups to grow. We have infrastructure, investor-friendly industry policy, new policy for MSME while a new Startup policy is being launched today. There are huge opportunities in the food processing sector while a new policy for rice milling and electric vehicles will be prepared soon,” he said.
The state at present has 1,937 recognized and registered startups including 43% started by women entrepreneurs, he said.
