Coliseum Capital revealed a stake of 40,854,130 shares in the mattress and bedding retailer, nearly 45% of the outstanding stock. Last September, Coliseum made an unsolicited offer to buy all Purple shares that it didn’t own for $4.35 per share in cash. Coliseum and Purple failed to come to an agreement, with the retailer disclosing on Jan. 12 that its special committee rejected the offer.
