BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — A Binghamton entrepreneur has been named Upstate New York’s 2022 Small Business Person of the Year.
On Thursday, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded Chenango Point Cycle Owner Anthony Folk as the recipient.
Folk purchased Chenango Point Cycle in 2019 with the goal of bringing new and experienced riders together.
Along the way, he’s faced challenges including the pandemic, workforce shortages and supply chain disruptions.
Folk was selected not only for his success in growing his business, but also for his commitment to community service and building a network of support for bikers across the Southern Tier.
“There’s kind of three words that define the simplest idea and the first one is community,” said Folk. “So, I don’t think that stuff is ever going to stop. Without building a community of people that enjoy riding bikes, or without being involved with that community of people that enjoy riding bikes, there’s nobody riding bikes. So, for us, making sure people have a way to ride, a place to ride and access to get there is kind of number one on our to do list.”
Folk was chosen as the recipient of the award among 34 counties.
